Things about fasting
About Fasting - various religions,
how and why

Meetings are usually held at 7:00 PM on the
Third Wednesday of the month, and will again--
but are on hiatus while looking for a new Meeting place.

In the meantime, the Coalition continues to work
with various committee meetings, and with other groups for things like
 RIGHTS AT WORK projects, etc.

FAIR TRADE PRINCIPLES
Fair Trade is an alternative way of doing business that is rooted in human dignity. Fair Trade is not about charity; it uses a fairer system of exchange to empower producers and create sustainable development.

Fair Trade principles include:

• Fair price
• Safe & humane working conditions, including prohibition of child labor
• Direct trade and long-term relationships
• Community development
• Democratically-organized workers
• Empowerment of women
• Respect for cultural identity
• Environmental sustainability

Keeping faith with Verizon workers

Verizon workers are back at work, stronger and more unified after two weeks on picket lines. CEO Lowell McAdam has agreed to respect a meaningful collective bargaining process, but there is still no settlement.
In the next phase of this struggle, workers need our support more than ever. Send your own message of solidarity here

From our Labor-Religion network are two stories of religious leaders taking their faith to the streets>

Message from officials at this year's State Fair: We take cases of human trafficking & wage theft seriously
One year ago, workers employed by a food vendor at the New York State Fair in Syracuse turned to worker rights activists for protection from near-slavery conditions. The situation received extensive publicity.
Thanks to letters, news conferences, meetings with state officials including the governor s office and unrelenting pressure led by the Workers Center of Central NY and the CNY Labor-Religion Coalition, the news from this year s fair is better.
